Youth offenders to move out of Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – State legislators are raising concerns about a plan to transfer all youth offenders out of Omaha.

There are currently 46 juveniles at the Nebraska Correctional Youth Facility in Omaha. Twenty-eight of them are 18 years old. The rest are under 18. Since the legal adult age in Nebraska is 19, all 46 are legally minors.

Corrections plans to move them to the Reception and Treatment Center in Lincoln in July.
