SAN ANTONIO — A Bexar County man who was just 14 years old when he and another teen killed a woman in a drive-by shooting on the wrong house was sentenced to decades in prison.
437th District Court Judge Joel Perez handed down dual 50-year sentences for Rene Joe Gonzales, 18, on Thursday after he pleaded no contest to two murder charges. Isaac Gonzales, who is unrelated and also participated in the shooting, was sentenced in January 2024.
Authorities said the pair fired more than 100 rounds into a home along Bald Mountain Drive on the far west side on Oct. 4, 2022, killing 25-year-old Novita Brazil and injuring another woman. They used a stolen car in the middle-of-the-night attack, which neighbors said left them “stunned and shocked.”…
