Woman sentenced for hit-and-run that killed man on shoulder of I-25

DENVER — A woman who pleaded guilty to a charge stemming from a hit-and-run that killed a man who was changing a tire will avoid prison time.

Marisol Infante, 30, was sentenced to six years in community corrections Thursday after pleading guilty in February to vehicular homicide-reckless driving, court records show. A charge of leaving the scene of an accident involving death was dismissed as part of a plea deal.

Carlos Mercado, 52, was changing a flat tire on the right shoulder of southbound Interstate 25, just north of the West Alameda Avenue exit, in July of last year when he was struck.
