Banyan tree crashes onto Waiahole home during Kona Low storm

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A massive banyan tree toppled onto a Waiahole home during last week’s second Kona low storm, trapping residents inside and leaving significant damage.

According to volunteers assisting with cleanup, neighbors cut through the structure to rescue an 81-year-old homeowner who was pinned in his bedroom after the tree collapsed.
