ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A 16-year-old who was reported missing out of the City of Troy was found in the City of Albany with a loaded gun. Members of the Albany County Sheriff’s Community Oriented Policing Effort (SCOPE) Unit conducted the investigation in the area of South Pearl Street and Herkimer Street.

During the investigation, they found a 16-year-old boy in possession of a loaded Smith & Wesson .22 caliber AR-style pistol concealed in his front waistband. The firearm was equipped with an extended magazine holding 24 rounds. It was also intentionally defaced in an attempt to conceal the serial number.
The teen is now in a detention facility.
