2026 Dyngus Day festival to bring more polka, pierogi and piwo to Cleveland streets

CLEVELAND, Ohio — As we head into the Easter weekend, some Clevelanders are getting ready to trade pastels for red attire and break out the polka shoes for Dyngus Day.

The city’s 16th annual Dyngus Day celebration dances back into Gordon Square from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 6, turning Detroit Avenue into one big post-Lenten block party.

Dyngus Day, or Wet Monday, is a Polish holiday that marks the end of Lent with music, dancing, food and a few lighthearted traditions involving squirt guns and pussywillows. The official festival, created by DJ Kishka and produced by Heritage Productions since 2019, will once again close Detroit Avenue between West 54th and 58th streets for the all-day event…
