Couple charged with human trafficking, wage theft at senior care homes in North County

SAN DIEGO — A San Diego County couple pleaded not guilty Thursday to human trafficking and wage theft charges after prosecutors say they forced Filipino immigrant workers into grueling, around-the-clock shifts at two senior care homes while withholding most of their pay.

Rolando Solancho Corpuz, 57, and Maria Elsabel Sio Corpuz, 57, were arraigned and released after posting $300,000 bail. The pair managed Rose Garden Vista and Rose Garden Capo in Escondido, where a combined 20 seniors live.
