San Francisco sees largest SFPD recruit class in nearly a decade

Thursday, San Francisco welcomed in the largest class of new officers in nearly a decade; the move was a major step toward rebuilding the city’s police force.

The Scottish Rite Center was packed with family, friends and city leaders watching 41 new recruits take the oath to serve the city of San Francisco.

The 287th recruit class is the largest since 2017, reflecting a wide range of backgrounds with many recruits holding college degrees and more than half speaking multiple languages. Some also coming from careers in tech, science and the military…
