AMES, Iowa – Both parents have now been convicted for the death of a Story County child.
A jury has found Sheyenne Nichole Shore, 26 of Urbandale, guilty of first-degree murder and child endangerment resulting in death. Juan Angel Montalvo Jr., 37 of Nevada, previously pleaded guilty to one count of child endangerment resulting in serious injury.
Short and Montalvo’s seven month old child died on June 11, 2023. The Nevada Public Safety Department says the death was ruled a homicide after doctors found the child had suffered numerous injuries including fractures of the wrist, both arms, and femur in different stages of healing, hemorrhages of the right eye and liver, and abrasions and contusions of the face, forehead, back, and abdomen…
