DC man lured freelance barber into home, carjacked and shot him, indictment claims

WASHINGTON — An 18-year-old D.C. man lured two people into a home on Webster Street, attacked them and stole their cars, according to an indictment unsealed Thursday. The 13-count indictment charges Dequan Simpson for the two alleged carjackings and a shooting last month.

According to court documents, on March 4, shortly after noon, a pizza delivery driver was allegedly lured to a home in the unit block of Webster Street NE. Instead of a routine food delivery, the delivery driver was robbed, assaulted, held at gunpoint and carjacked of his 2014 Toyota Corolla.

Two days later, on March 6, a freelance barber was also lured to the same Webster Street home after someone requested a haircut. When the barber got to the home, he was robbed and shot multiple times as he tried to run away. The gunman took the barber’s black 2009 Infiniti G37X. Investigators later recovered seven spent shell casings at the scene…
