A TORNADO WATCH has been issued for several counties along the Oklahoma state line through midnight.
There is an Enhanced Risk which accounts for several severe storm warnings expected. Areas of Southcentral and southeast Kansas down into Oklahoma are in the place for greater impacts from severe weather.
Storms will begin as discrete, or isolated, storms in the enhanced zone and form into a few lines, tracking east into the overnight.
All forms of severe weather are possible, including a few tornadoes. Damaging winds and large hail are also possible.
Localized flooding will need to be monitored as this complex of heavy rain pushes east tonight.
Any leftovers will quickly depart the Nebraska state line on Thursday morning.
Sunshine is expected for most on Thursday with wraparound clouds exiting to the north. Highs will be coolest with the clouds to the northeast and warmer to the southwest where highs in the 70s will dominate.
Fire Weather Watches and Warnings are already in place for parts of southwest Kansas on Thursday. This is for areas that will miss out on the rain connection today.
There is another cold front on deck for Friday. It will spark scattered storms along and east of the Turnpike.
A few will become severe for hail and high winds.
Rain and storms move out ahead of the weekend. Saturday will be cool in the 50s and 60s for highs.
We will have a touch of frost for Easter morning over northern and western Kansas.
Highs will bounce back to the 60s and 70s by Sunday afternoon. Next week, highs will be comfortable in the 60s and 70s.
The start of the workweek looks quiet but will turn more active at the end. Another storm system will move into the Plains late next week, increasing our chances for scattered showers and storms.
