Summit County locks in electricity agreement

DOWNTOWN AKRON — Summit County Council March 30 authorized the county executive to execute a master services agreement with Dynegy Energy Services LLC to supply electricity for the county’s opt-out electricity aggregation program for a two-year term from June 1, 2026, through May 31, 2028, at an estimated fixed price of .0995 per kilowatt hour.

Andrew Barry, attorney for the Summit County Executive’s Department of Law and Risk Management, said all of the county’s townships, except for Sagamore Hills, plus the City of New Franklin are part of the program.

The county’s current 13-month term will expire May 31, and, according to the resolution, “based on the current economic and global events occurring, the executive wishes to enter into a new master services agreement for electricity for the county’s opt-out electricity aggregation program.” First reading passage was requested “due to the high likelihood that prices will continue to increase,” according to the resolution…
