Columbia restaurant owner rebuilding after $316K embezzlement by trusted employee

COLUMBIA, S.C. — A Columbia restaurant owner says he is working to rebuild his business after losing more than $316,000 to embezzlement in what federal prosecutors describe as a scheme carried out over time by a trusted employee.

Michael Duganier, owner of Publico and other Columbia-area restaurants, said the financial loss had a significant impact on his business operations.
