Man wins $1M on scratch-off ticket but won’t take home even half: Ohio Lottery

ASHVILLE, Ohio (WJW) — An Ohio man won $1 million on a scratch-off ticket, but won’t take home even half that much cash thanks to state and federal taxes.

According to the Ohio Lottery, the Ashville man purchased the winning $1,000,000 Cashword ticket at a Get Go in Columbus. He scratched-off the game’s grand prize of $40,000 for 25 years.

But, lottery officials said in a media release, he chose the cash option of $500,000, and after 26.75% mandatory state and federal taxes he will take home $366,250…
