Dearborn begins demolition of long-vacant Village Plaza, evacuated since 2018

DEARBORN, MI – Demolition is underway at the long-vacant Village Plaza shopping center, a 285,468-square-foot complex that has sat largely empty since it was ordered evacuated in 2018 due to safety concerns.

Crews began tearing down the property this week after asbestos abatement was completed, marking a major step in removing what city officials have long considered a blighted structure.
