After the Milpitas City Council approved $60,000 for a home security camera program last month, residents have been calling the police department in high numbers asking how to get one, the city said Thursday.
The cameras, meant to deter package thefts and help police investigate neighborhood crimes, will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Roughly 300 to 500 cameras, both doorbell and exterior models, will be available, acting Assistant Police Chief Tyler Jamison told this news organization Friday.
