Pizza Hut destroyed by Portage tornado reopens

PORTAGE, Mich. (WOOD) — A Portage Pizza Hut destroyed by the 2024 tornado is back in business after the opening of a new plaza built in the footprint of the previous one.

On a busy Friday afternoon, General Manager Mike Cory was cutting and boxing pizzas alongside another employee at the W. Centre Avenue location. For months after the storm, the team was split up, though some of their regulars following them as a sign of support. Two weeks ago, they reunited in time for the opening of the new location.

“They’re just happy to be back,” Cory said. “We’re all a team.”
