Court sets September trial for Huntsville’s nuisance claim against Lurin Real Estate

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — A Madison County judge has scheduled a September bench trial in the City of Huntsville’s lawsuit seeking to have a Lurin Real Estate Holdings-owned apartment complex declared a public nuisance — a ruling that could force the Dallas-based company to make mandatory repairs, pay hefty fines, or surrender the property entirely.

The trial is set for Sept. 8 in the case involving the complex at 2022 Golf Road, which has sat vacant for more than two years with no utility service. The four-building complex, formerly known as Serenity Apartments, has scores of missing windows and doors, large sections of exterior covered only with building wrap or plywood, and discarded building materials littering the surrounding grounds.
