Mobile Police homicide detective testifies in capital murder trial: Cailee Knight’s deadly shooting

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG)—The actions of a murder suspect before and after a shooting that killed a child are under examination Friday as testimony continued in the capital murder trial of Darius Lucky.

Prosecutors say surveillance video shows Darius Lucky with an assault rifle the night Cailee Knight was killed in 2023.

“There’s been multiple identifications that that is Mr. Lucky in the video,” Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood said. “Certainly something we’re going to argue to the jury when it’s time.”

Lucky is on trial for capital murder, accused of shooting into the 9-year-old’s home on Rhett Drive, killing her as she slept on her couch.
