Mount Morris Dam under pressure amid rising waters

MOUNT MORRIS, N.Y. (WROC) — Heavy rain across the region is driving up water levels along the Genesee River, but officials say the Mount Morris Dam is performing as designed to reduce downstream flooding.

The dam, located about 60 miles south of Rochester, has captured a significant amount of runoff from the recent storm, according to dam manager Steve Winslow.

“We’ve captured a good portion of that water that would otherwise have flowed downstream and exacerbated flood conditions,” Winslow said…
