Fourth suspect arrested in deadly 2024 Lake Worth Beach brothel shooting

A fourth suspect has been arrested in the killing of a man authorities said was running a brothel in Lake Worth Beach, according to a newly filed Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office probable cause affidavit.

Rodney Augustin, 25, was arrested on charges of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit robbery with a firearm in the Sept. 5, 2024, killing of Marco Rubi Escobar, court records show. The warrant was filed March 25 and says investigators concluded Augustin helped provide the address, inside knowledge and other details used in the robbery plan that ended in Escobar’s death.

Escobar, 58, was found shot multiple times inside the residence on Melaleuca Lane on Sept. 5 after deputies were dispatched to a reported shooting, the affidavit says. Detectives wrote that cartridge casings found around his body appeared to be from a rifle and that the medical examiner ruled the death a homicide caused by multiple gunshot wounds…
