Woman wanted for attempted murder arrested after high-speed chase in Evangeline Parish

EVANGELINE PARISH, La. (NEWS 15) — A Baton Rouge woman wanted for attempted murder and gun charges is facing even more charges after leading deputies on a high-speed chase that started on I-49 and ended on a state highway, according to the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Akeiriyon Mitchell, 27, of Baton Rouge, is charged with resisting an officer, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, stop sign and yield signs, maximum speed limit, aggravated assault with a vehicle against a police officer, and aggravated flight from an officer. She is being held with no bond and a hold placed on her for the Baton Rouge Police Department on outstanding warrants for attempted first-degree murder, simple burglary, aggravated assault with a firearm, aggravated criminal damage to property, aggravated flight from an officer, illegal use of a gun, crime of violence, and aggravated assault with a firearm.
