Fort Dodge man faces competency hearing for the murder of his sister and nephew in Ames.

The Fort Dodge man accused of fatally stabbing his sister and nephew in Ames last month will face a competency hearing. On Thursday, the court temporarily suspended proceedings for a competency evaluation for 22-year-old Davontrez R. McCuddin who according to the court “is suffering from a mental disorder” which would impact the trial. It was on March 13th that the Ames Police Department responded to a residence in the 3900 block of Tripp Street on reports of a stabbing. Upon their arrival, officer located 26-year-old Markasia McCuddin and 1-year-old Liam Sanders-McCuddin both suffering from multiple stab wounds. Both died at the scene.
