Expert sewing skills were not necessary to participate in Tuesday’s “Make a Blanket Day,” a community centered initiative hosted by the UNO Network of Disability and Awareness (NDA).
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Mavericks were invited to stop by the Milo Bail Student Center’s Dodge rooms to help craft tie-blankets for the UNO Maverick Food Pantry.
The event, now in its second year, was designed as a low-barrier and welcoming way for students to give back to their peers.
The Dodge rooms were specifically staged to facilitate a drop-in style of volunteering. Each table in the room was stocked with complete blanket kits, which included varying fabric patterns ranging from vibrant prints to neutral solids…
