Springfield man pleads guilty for 2023 murder, assault

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Timothy Hester, the second of five defendants charged in the death of Chaviz Nguyen and the shooting of his then-pregnant girlfriend Haley Frillman, has pleaded guilty in his case.

Hester was set for trial on April 13, but during a hearing today, pleaded guilty to charges of first-degree murder and assault.

According to Greene County Prosecutor Dan Patterson, Hester was given 30 years for the murder charge and 20 years for assault. Those sentences will run consecutively on the condition that Hester testifies against the three remaining co-defendants.

“Today’s plea brings us another step closer to justice for Chaviz Nguyen and Haley Frillman. We will not stop until everyone responsible is held fully accountable,” Patterson said in a statement to OzarksFirst…
