New owners: “It’s going to be the same Poor Richard’s you’ve known and loved”

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The previous owners of Poor Richard’s in Downtown Colorado Springs said they received numerous offers for the business when they were looking to step back, but only the right fit would suffice.

Owner and Founder Richard Skorman said at first, it was a challenge to find someone who would look after the iconic Downtown business with the care and consideration that he had.

“Poor Richard’s, we’ve been here for 51 years and it was a struggle to find people that we thought were a good fit,” Skorman said. “It was absolutely important to us. We had dozens of people interested, somebody wanted to turn it into a brewpub… but, we want to keep this going because we love our customers, we love our employees.”

That’s where Joe Cole, former anchor and news director at FOX21 News, and his wife Sarah Gibeau-Cole came in.

“We are extremely excited that we found Joe and Sarah to be the successors… of this business,” said former co-owner Patricia Seator. “They really are a perfect fit with their community orientation, the same kind of heart and soul.”…
