For the first time in history, next year’s Horry County Council’s budget will hit the billion dollar range.
The council gave first reading approval Wednesday afternoon, April 1 to the FY 2027 budget which is slated for $1.04 billion — a $172 million increase from last year’s $869.9 million budget. The budget passed 11-1 with Councilman Tyler Servant voting no.
The new budget does not include a tax increase with the countywide millage rate remaining at 52.1 mils. The value of a general fund mil for next year is $4.37 million…
