Lawn service owner charged with ripping off his elderly customers

A lawn service owner has been charged with ripping off his customers.

Jonathon Charles Birmingham, 42, of Summerfield, was arrested this week on a felony charge of theft of a person over the age of 65.

Birmingham, who operates Jonathon Birmingham Lawn Service, last year offered a detailed invoice to two elderly customers quoting them for work at their shared property. The customers, a 71-year-old woman and a 69-year-old man, both wrote checks to Birmingham. Each of the checks was made out for $270 and issued from the Wells Fargo bank on Parr Drive in The Villages.

Birmingham cashed the checks, but never returned to perform the work…
