Fight at Banneker Rec Center leaves 1 stabbed, 3 arrested

WASHINGTON — Three people were arrested and a woman was hospitalized after a fight broke out inside the Banneker Recreation Center in Northwest D.C. Friday evening. The violence comes as DC Police once again rolled out new juvenile curfew zones around the District.

According to a spokesperson for the department, officers were called to the recreation center on Georgia Avenue, Northwest, around 6:30 p.m. for a report of a fight. The officers saw a 17-year-old boy who was involved in the fight waving a knife.

Officers told the teen to drop the knife and he was eventually taken into custody. An investigation later revealed that a woman had been stabbed during the fight, and drove herself to the hospital for treatment. Her injuries were described as “non-life-threatening.”…
