Idaho pilot sentenced to 90 days in jail for flying drunk, crashing near Boise airport

An Idaho pilot who pleaded guilty to flying drunk and crashing his plane near the Boise Airport in November 2025 was sentenced in court on April 3.

Michael Verzwyvelt, 61, was sentenced to spend 90 days in jail, 60 of which were suspended. He must also attend an alcohol education course. The court also penalized him with a $457.50 in fees, and his airman certificate will be suspended for a year beginning Friday. He also must serve supervised probation for 2 years, which can be supervised in Twin Falls County.
