KAILUA, Hawaii (Island News) — Honolulu firefighters extinguished a large house fire in Kailua that broke out Friday evening, leaving a family without a home.
The Honolulu Fire Department was alerted about a building fire on Ulupii Street in Kailua right before 7 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2026. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene as the fire increased to a two-alarm fire within minutes.
Firefighters arrived at the house near Kailua High School and worked to take out a one-story home fully engulfed in a fire. The firefighting efforts included protecting a house next door from getting caught on fire. A fire investigator was dispatched to the scene at 7:15 p.m.
Firefighters were able to contain the large blaze at 7:20 p.m. and fully extinguished it nearly an hour later at 8:12 p.m…
