Automatic SNAP replacements coming for Waialua, Haleiwa; deadline extended elsewhere

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The state will issue an automatic mass replacement of 50% of March 2026 Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits for households in Waialua and Haleiwa following severe weather.

The Hawaii Department of Human Services said the replacement benefits are for current SNAP recipients impacted by the last month’s back-to-back storms which brought heavy rains, flooding, and power outages.

The department said Waialua and Haleiwa households will receive a 50% replacement of each household’s March 2026 SNAP benefit no later than April 10.

Application deadline extended

DHS said the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) has approved the state’s request to extend the deadline to apply for SNAP replacement benefits to April 9 for households impacted by the March Kona low weather events…
