Michigan coach has son working in role he used to have at Final Four

Dusty May’s son Eli is following in his father’s footsteps as Michigan bids to reach the national championship game.

While star Wolverine Yaxel Lendeborg was branded a liar by a rival coach, Michigan has enjoyed a relatively uneventful path to the Final Four of March Madness. May, the USBWA National Coach of the Year in 2026, is looking to claim a first championship in his career.

He led Florida Atlantic University to the Final Four in 2023 and has done the same with Michigan in 2026. May is hoping to get over the line with his son Eli serving as a student manager — just as May himself did at Division II Oakland City University under Bob Knight at Indiana…
