County Executive encourages teens to apply for Summer Youth Employment Program

SUMMIT COUNTY, OHIO — Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro and her Department of Job and Family Services (DJFS) are excited to announce the return of the TANF Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) for 2026, in collaboration with Jobs for Ohio’s Graduates (JOG).

Applications open today, April 1, and eligible youth are encouraged to apply early as positions are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Interested youth and families can apply at: https://youthsuccesssummit.org/summer-youth-employment-program/

The program is open to Summit County residents ages 16–18 and provides participants with meaningful, paid work experience across a variety of career fields. Through the TANF-funded program, all participants must meet income eligibility requirements, with household income not exceeding 200% of the federal poverty level.

Youth will gain valuable job skills while earning income and exploring future career pathways. Participants can work up to 20 hours per week at $15 per hour, with jobs beginning June 8 and continuing through the summer…
