Rain ends 39-day dry spell in Bakersfield, falling just hours shy of 1934 March record

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Well, the highlight of the week that was is that after 39 rainless days the heavens opened up and the raindrops came on down, officially adding to the bone dry Bakersfield rain gauge on the very last day of the month of March. The previous record of a rainless March, set back in 1934, was missed by 6 hours!

The warmth of the month was also quite rare, propelling Bakersfield to the “warmest March on record” this year. One record was missed, another was met.
