‘While he slept’: Man beat his girlfriend’s brother repeatedly ‘with a weightlifting bar’ into a brain hemorrhage and told her to call 911, prosecutors said

A disturbing case from Michigan has shocked local residents after a man was accused of attacking his girlfriend’s brother while he was asleep. The violent nature of the incident and the serious injuries suffered by the victim have raised concerns about domestic violence beyond just romantic relationships.

Incident at Chesterfield Township Home

The incident happened in Chesterfield Township, located near Detroit. On Sunday, 46-year-old Jevonn Green returned to his home, where he lived with his girlfriend and her 61-year-old brother.

According to authorities, the brother was asleep on the couch when the attack allegedly took place. The sudden and unexpected nature of the assault made the situation even more serious.

Details of the Alleged Attack

Police say Green used a weightlifting bar as a weapon during the assault. While the victim was sleeping, he allegedly:

  • Caused severe head injuries
  • Left the victim unconscious and critically injured

After the attack, Green reportedly woke up his girlfriend and told her to call 911 for her brother.

Victim’s Condition

The victim was rushed to the hospital and remains in critical condition. Doctors have reported serious injuries, including:

  • A decompressed skull fracture
  • Brain bleeding

These injuries are life-threatening, and the victim continues to receive intensive medical care.

Charges and Legal Consequences

Green has been charged by the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office with several serious crimes:

  • Assault with intent to murder
  • Aggravated domestic violence
  • Assault with a dangerous weapon

Because this is reportedly his fourth offence, the consequences could be severe. If convicted, he faces:

  • A minimum of 25 years in prison
  • Possible life imprisonment

Prosecutor’s Statement

Peter Lucido, the Macomb County Prosecutor, described the incident as extremely troubling. He highlighted that domestic violence is not limited to partners and can affect other family members as well.

He also urged victims to immediately contact emergency services in dangerous situations.
