STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Staten Island community is rallying around a West Brighton woman diagnosed with an aggressive brain cancer.

Colleen Valcarcel, 55, is recovering from brain surgery and was diagnosed after a biopsy with a grade 4 glioma — the most advanced and fastest-growing type of brain cancer.
