Staten Island parishioners observe Good Friday with street procession

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Parishioners of the Church of St. Christopher and St. Margaret Mary R.C. Church took to the streets of Grant City on Good Friday, marking the day Christians observe the final hours of Jesus’ life before his crucifixion.

The crowd of about 100 people spanning all ages wound through the neighborhood in a solemn reenactment of the 14 Stations of the Cross. About 20 participants took on speaking roles, donning costumes and reciting lines as the procession moved from station to station.

Between each stop, a guitarist led the crowd in religious songs, weaving music through the afternoon’s reflections…
