Ice storm warning in effect for Wausau area through early Saturday

WAUSAU, Wis. (Wausau Pilot & Review) — A dangerous ice storm is expected to move into north-central Wisconsin Friday night, with forecasters warning of hazardous travel, possible power outages and tree damage across the region.

The National Weather Service has issued an ice storm warning from 9 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday for Marathon, Menominee, northern Oconto, Shawano and southern Marinette counties.

Ice accumulations between one-tenth and three-tenths of an inch are expected, with the highest amounts likely in eastern Marathon County as well as parts of northern Oconto, western Marinette and northwestern Shawano and Menominee counties. Wind gusts could reach up to 30 mph…
