ABQ Route 66 Visitor Center to reopen on Saturday with photography exhibit

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) — Another Route 66 Centennial celebration is opening tomorrow. You can take a first look at Albuquerque’s Route 66 Visitor Center photography exhibit from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

The exhibit titled “Centennial Roots” is a tribute to New Mexico’s landscapes, cultures, and traditions that have evolved alongside the Mother Road. It features the work of four local photographers exploring how travel shapes New Mexican stories.

The exhibit is just one aspect of the center’s reopening. The city’s director of arts and culture says there’s a lot more events to look forward to after tomorrow. Through May 30, there will be free music from 12 to 4 p.m., so free concerts every weekend along with food trucks and we’ll have a brewery out here,” said City of Albuquerque Director of Arts and Culture Dr. Shelle VanEtten de Sanchez. “You can make a nice afternoon of it, and again, admission is free, the concerts are free. Wo we hope people, if they can’t come tomorrow, that they join us over the next 8 weeks.”…
