PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A woman was arrested during a protest at the home of Mayor Keith Wilson on Saturday for allegedly smashing a glass vase on the mayor’s porch.
The home was once again the focal point of a demonstration against the presence of Immigration and Customs Enforcement in the Rose City, with more than 50 people participating.
Organizers with Portland Contra Las Deportaciones say that despite the City of Portland issuing a land use violation to the owners of the ICE facility on South Macadam Avenue months ago, they argue that city leaders have not taken enough action on the issue. Specifically, protesters are demanding that Mayor Wilson and the city council revoke the permit that allows ICE to operate in Portland.
