Denny’s lottery heist leads to 14-year prison term for Aloha man

An Aloha man who stole $8,200 in video lottery cash from a Happy Valley Denny’s — then assaulted a fellow inmate while locked up in jail — was sentenced to 14 years in prison Thursday, the Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Douglas Wayne Kelsey, 33, was playing video lottery at the Denny’s at 12101 S.E. 82nd Ave. in July when he spotted an employee emptying the machines. Kelsey wrestled away the cash then headed for the door, shoving past another employee while drawing a semi-automatic pistol and making threats.

Three days later, SWAT team members found and arrested Kelsey at a home in the 7700 block of Southeast Lamphier Street in unincorporated Clackamas County…
