COLONIE — The price of a gallon of gas at BJ’s Wholesale Club in Colonie on Saturday was $3.83. Drivers lined up in droves at the pump.
The price was just 27 cents cheaper per gallon than the national average of $4.10, but as consumers are increasingly squeezed by the rising cost of living, including higher utility prices and growing rent and home prices, many are searching for ways to cut their expenses and save money.
Dona Hatfield, one of the drivers who lined up at BJ’s, had to wait a few minutes to get to one of the dozen pumps at the Central Avenue station Saturday afternoon. There were as many as 20 cars in a line stretching nearly to the Lowe’s store, roughly a third of a mile away…
