District faces backlash over cutting 3 middle school chorus programs

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WJBF)- Some Aiken County parents are upset after the school district decided to cut the chorus program from Paul Knox, North Augusta and Kennedy Middle Schools.

A former member of North Augusta High School’s choir sounding the alarm on social media about cuts to the school district’s music program. He told newsChannel 6 he was concerned because two of the three middle schools feed into North Augusta High School’s award-winning choir program.

“It’s just disappointing. And I experienced this when I was in middle school and high school of, you know, the overwhelming money support for sports and for academics. But then the same thing is not given towards choir,” said Todd Gillespie Jr…
