BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Some Birmingham students have made it to the top 10 national finalists in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Innovators competition.
For the second straight year, eight graders from South Hampton K-8 School have advanced to this stage, displaying their knack for innovation. They are the only Alabama school to make it this far.
The students designed a solar-powered early storm alert system inspired by the tornado that hit Pratt City on April 27, 2011.
They will present their idea in Washington for a chance to win $100,000…
