A Saturday evening ride in Brownsville ended in a life-or-death struggle after an e-moped and an SUV violently collided, leaving the rider with devastating head injuries and sparking a massive emergency response at a busy Brooklyn intersection.
The crash unfolded at Hinsdale Street and Pitkin Avenue, where stunned bystanders watched medics rush the gravely injured rider to a nearby trauma center in critical condition. The SUV driver stayed at the scene while officers locked down the block and began talking to witnesses.

According to the New York Daily News, the moped was traveling west along Pitkin Avenue when it was struck by an SUV heading south on Hinsdale Street. The outlet reports the rider suffered severe head trauma, including a skull wound that police and sources at the scene said was caused by flying debris.
Emergency Medical Services rushed the victim to Brookdale University Hospital in critical condition. The New York Daily News also reported that the SUV operator, a 39-year-old man, remained on site after the impact.
