Redacted body camera footage shows fatal Columbus police shooting

Columbus police released redacted body camera footage of a March 31 shooting on the Northeast Side, showing several officers who opened fire on a man with a gun.

At 10:01 p.m. March 31, 911 received a call from 1970 Schrock Road near Interstate 270 on Columbus’ Northeast Side, Columbus police said. A caller told police someone had a gun, was irate, and was pointing a gun at another person at the Loyal Order of the Moose Worthington Lodge #1427.

Officers were dispatched and arrived on scene at 10:21 p.m. and found the armed man walking across the parking lot away from the lodge building with a gun pointed to his head, video shows. Officers repeatedly told him to drop the gun multiple times, the video shows…
