••• Brass Bird Coffee & Kitchen has opened in the former McKenzie Market at 3102 State Street in San Roque. There’s a lot of outdoor seating, and the parking lot is one-way, with an entrance on Calle Palo Colorado and an exit (right turn only) onto State Street.
••• Farther up State Street, La Gourmandise is moving into the building (3524 State) where Madame Lu used to be. The bakery will be wholesale-only while improvements get made.
••• “Silvergreens, the fast-casual concept founded in Isla Vista in 1995 by restaurateur Jay Ferro, is preparing to open a new location at 1001 State Street [at Carrillo], inside the Amazon building. Following a soft opening for Amazon employees in mid-April, the location is expected to open to the public by the end of the month.
