Lodi volunteers plant trees at Legion Park after controversial removals

LODI, Calif. — A popular park in Lodi will be getting some of its shade back months after a controversial decision to remove nearly 30 trees.

Dozens of volunteers and community groups gathered Saturday at Legion Park off Hutchins Street for an Arbor Day event organized by the nonprofit Tree Lodi.

“We have all ages. We have more partners than we’ve ever had a community event like this, Arbor Day,” said Steve Dutra, Tree Lodi’s president. “We’re blessed it continues to grow.”…
