16-year-old rescued from Hoosic River

In a multi-agency response, a 16-year-old female was rescued from the Hoosic River Saturday.

The Hoosick Falls Police Department initially responded to a report involving a 16-year-old female who entered the water from the bridge in the village. Rensselaer County 911 Dispatch acted quickly to coordinate and assemble the necessary mutual aid.

Police said the individual did not immediately exit the water and required immediate assistance. Members of the Hoosick Falls Fire Department responded to the scene to coordinate a rescue operation with the use of mutual aid. Due to the hazardous conditions in that area, including strong currents, water temperature, and the nearby waterfall, the situation presented significant safety concerns for all responding personnel.
